“Stay crunchy!” … Upwards of 250 cybersecurity professionals and media gathered this week for tacos, drinks and networking at CYBERTACOS, an event founded by W2 Communications and co-hosted with LaunchTech Communications.

Held at Don Tito in Arlington, Va., CYBERTACOS kicked off by hosting its first-ever “Meet the Press” panel with local, influential security reporters including:

  • Rob Lever, AFP
  • Chris Bing, CyberScoop
  • George Jackson, Government Matters
  • Dustin Volz, Reuters
  • Megan Gates, Security Management
  • Mike Gruss, Fifth Domain

Panel members shared best practices on how to effectively communicate with media, while giving their “predictions” for 2018 along with a “sneak peek” of their upcoming articles. Issues discussed included botnets, utilities, identity management, the intersection of physical and cyber security and overall trust in technology.

Networking (and, of course, tacos) followed for the event, which proved so popular that a number of attendees lingered on well after the official end-time of 8:00 p.m. With its growing visibility and popularity, CYBERTACOS shifts its focus to its next date, April 16, in San Francisco at the RSA Security Conference. Less than a day removed from the Arlington event, a number of attendees are already registering for the next.
