With over a decade of high-technology public relations and marketing communications experience, Evan Weisel is a seasoned public relations professional within the business-to-business and business-to-government high-technology arena. Weisel’s volume of experience spans strategic planning, media and industry analyst relations, awards and speaking programs, collateral and advertising program development, and event and conference planning. He has provided counsel to both start-up and Fortune 500 companies.


Prior to becoming a Principal with Welz &Weisel Communications in May 2003, Weisel helped build the public relations practices at two established Northern Virginia-based public relations companies. At both firms, Weisel was chartered with developing internal company policies, hiring, staff management, and most importantly – building results-oriented public relations programs.


Weisel has worked with many local and national organizations during his career, including: Advanstar, AIIM International, The Burton Goup, Cloakware, Informatica Public Sector, Interliant, Jacada, Knowledge Consulting Group, Micro Warehouse Gov/Ed, netForensics, NetSec (an MCI Company), Newbridge Networks, NFR Security, NIC Commerce, Network Associates Public Sector, Symantec Public Sector, Sourcefire, Sysorex, Vredenburg, Xacta Corporation and ZyLAB North America.


In addition, Weisel acted as the public relations chair for the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) – a prominent organization bringing together government and industry executives from 2001 to 2003. In 2003, Weisel accepted the “communicator of the year” award on behalf of his team's public relations efforts in support of IAC. Currently, Weisel provides pro-bono counsel to The American Small Business Coalition (ASBC), a growing membership of Small and Large Businesses collaborating in an environment that fosters team-building and the exchange of information related to business opportunities with the United States Government.


From 1993 to 1996, Weisel was an account manager at Stackig Advertising & Public Relations (now TMP). There he worked on account teams and provided support to Eastman Kodak Company and Digital Equipment Corporation. While working on the Kodak account, Weisel was recognized by Kodak for his contributions in raising market awareness for the company’s new line of digital cameras within the public sector.


Weisel has also partnered with Business Wire to develop several “meet the press” panels in which he has been responsible for putting together the panel and moderating the session. In addition, Weisel has contributed articles on the topic of public relations to the Potomac Tech Journal as well as the Washington Business Journal. Weisel received has Bachelor’s of Arts degree in communication studies with a focus on public relations. He currently sits on the Communications Department Alumni Board for Virginia Tech (a three-year term).
