Evan Weisel, Principal and Co-Founder
Evan Weisel has 17 years of public relations experience providing strategic counsel to local and national business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) technology companies. Mr. Weisel has a proven track record of providing public relations, marketing and social media counsel to pre-funded start-up companies, VC-backed companies, small and medium sized businesses and publicly-traded Fortune 500 companies that span a wide range of technologies including content management/eDiscovery, enterprise software, information security and privacy, telecommunications, and government solutions and systems integrators.
In 2003, Mr. Weisel co-founded the public relations agency Welz & Weisel Communications to provide technology companies with aggressive, proactive and senior-level involvement across all aspects of their public relations program - from overall strategic planning and media and industry analyst relations to thought leadership programs and online communications. Welz & Weisel Communications is committed to partnering with its clients to develop integrated communications programs that produce meaningful, long-term results.
Mr. Weisel currently serves as the public relations advisor on the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Board, the Nation's largest technology council. In addition, Mr. Weisel serves on the board of NVTC's charitable arm, the Equal Footing Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to help fund, launch and sustain Computer Clubhouses that currently serve over 1,500 youth, many of whom do not have access to technology at home.
Prior to launching his own agency, Mr. Weisel spent over a decade in the Washington, D.C. area working in senior-level roles at boutique, technology-focused public relations agencies. Mr. Weisel started his career in the early 90's at one of the Capital region's largest PR agencies at the time, Stackig Advertising & Public Relations.
Mr. Weisel received his bachelor's degree in communication studies with a focus on public relations from Virginia Tech. He currently sits on the Communications Department Alumni Board and continues to visit Blacksburg to speak with students about pursuing a profession in high-technology public relations. Mr. Weisel is currently training for the Iron Man triathlon in St. George, UT on May 1, 2010.

As Principal and Co-Founder of Welz & Weisel Communications, Tony Welz is responsible for the overall success of the agency, focusing on client service and driving communications programs that establish clients as thought, market and technology leaders. An expert in messaging and positioning, Tony works with clients to ensure that their value propositions are clear and technical topics are easy to understand.
During a career that spans more than 17 years in both corporate communications and public relations agency environments, Tony has directed aggressive media and analyst campaigns, designed social media programs, managed crisis communications initiatives and developed in-depth executive and thought leadership programs. He has consulted with start-up and emerging businesses as well as global organizations such as IBM and Network Associates (McAfee).
Tony has a wide breadth of technology expertise, ranging from infrastructure and security technologies to enterprise software and services and telecommunications solutions. Tony leverages a deep understanding of the topics and issues that drive market news to create programs that position clients at the forefront of their industries. As a result, he has fostered long-term and trusted relationships with the industry’s top reporters, analysts and bloggers.
Tony has been the recipient of numerous awards - as part of an organization and as an individual - including being recognized as one of the top 50 internal public relations professionals by PR Week during his time with Network Associates. He received his Bachelor's of Arts in Public Relations from Rowan University.
