Our Involvement

At W2 Communications, we feel it is important to be involved not only in our community but in the organizations that help shape the direction of the industries that mean the most to our clients. Below is a list of some of the organizations in which W2 Communications is actively participates.


The Run! Geek! Run! 8K - W2 Communications is the official organizer for Run Geek Run. The 5th annual Run! Geek! Run! 8K will take place in West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds go to support the Equal Footing Foundation, a Virginia based 501(C)(3) nonprofit focused on youth development and education and is the charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

National & Regional Memberships

AFCEA International, established in 1946, is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security.

W2 Communications is a sponsor of the AFCEA DC monthly luncheons.

The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) is the membership and trade association for the technology community in Northern Virginia. As the largest technology council in the nation, NVTC serves about 1,000 companies from all sectors of the technology industry, as well as service providers, universities, foreign embassies, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies. Through its member companies, NVTC represents about 200,000 employees in the region.

W2 Communications serve on the NVTC board as PR Advisor and helped launch the Social Media and Cyber Security and Privacy committees.

The Startup America Partnership is a growing national movement of thousands of founders, experts and resources providing startups access to the corporations, investors, and services they need to grow. Launched at the White House in early 2011, the Partnership brings together startups and local champions from around the country focused on creating successful networks for young, high-growth companies to thrive. AOL co-founder Steve Case chairs the Partnership and the Kauffman and Case Foundations are its founding partners. American Airlines, American Express OPEN, Dell Inc., Intuit Inc., Microsoft and NYSE Euronext are corporate sponsors.

Women in Technology (WIT) is the premier organization empowering women to be architects of change in the technology industry. WIT’s mission is to Advance women in technology from the classroom to the boardroom by providing advocacy, leadership development, networking, mentoring and technology education.Welz & Weisel Communications currently serve as the Vice Chair of the Communications Committee.
