First 200 Registrants of the 2010 Run! Geek! Run! 8K are Entered to Win a Free Pair of Shoes from Georgetown Running Company
Register for the September 18 Charity Race Today – Pocket Protectors are Optional!
Fairfax, VA – August 11, 2010 – Welz & Weisel Communications, a strategic communications firm focused on creating awareness and credibility campaigns for information technology companies, today announced that the first 200 registrants of the 3rd annual Run! Geek! Run! 8K will be entered to win a pair of shoes valued up to $100 from Georgetown Running Company of Chevy Chase, MD. The money raised from Run! Geek! Run! 8K will benefit the Equal Footing Foundation, a Virginia-based 501(C)(3) nonprofit focused on youth development and education that is the charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC).
Runners are welcome to register individually or as part of the team challenge for the September 18 race. All registrants will receive geek glasses and technical t-shirts. Following the race, food and drinks will be provided and awards will be given to the top three finishers in 5-year age increments. There is a place for runners of all ages and skill levels at the Run! Geek! Run! 8K.
The race is held in West Potomac Park, home to famous landmarks such as the FDR Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool. Runners will race on the flat, fast, out-and-back course to continue to support and add to the already $50,000 in cash and technology donated to the Equal Footing Foundation since the race’s inception two years ago.

The Equal Footing Foundation (EFF) is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit charity that provides underserved youth in Northern Virginia opportunities to achieve their full potential through youth development and educational initiatives.
