Fairfax, VA - August 24, 2009 - Welz & Weisel Communications, a strategic public relations firm focused on creating awareness and credibility campaigns for information technology companies, today announced that it will host the 2nd annual Run! Geek! Run! 8K race on Saturday, October 31, 2009, in West Potomac Park, Washington, D.C. All proceeds go to supporting the Equal Footing Foundation, a Virginia based 501(C)(3) nonprofit focused on youth development and education.


For additional information, or to register, please visit www.rungeekrun.net. Entry fee for the Run! Geek! Run! 8K is $30 through October 15 and $35 through October 28. There will be no race day registration.


All registrants and volunteers will receive geek glasses and race t-shirts. Following the race, food and drinks will be available and awards will be given to the top three finishers in 5 year age increments - 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, etc. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to compete for the "Best-Looking Geek" costume award. Whether running individually or as part of the Corporate Team Challenge, there is a place for runners of all ages at the Run! Geek! Run! 8K.


"The inaugural Run! Geek! Run! 8K was a huge success, with over 600 registrants and it is our focus to make this one of the premier events in the area while raising money for a worthy cause," said Evan Weisel, Principal and Co-Founder of Welz & Weisel Communications. "We hope to continue to contribute to the Equal Footing Foundation and its mission to provide children, many of whom do not have technology at home, with the opportunity to explore their potential by working with mentors in after-school learning centers."


Run! Greek! Run! 8K starts and finishes in West Potomac Park, a national park in Washington D.C. and home to famous monuments such as the FDR Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool. This is a flat, fast, out-and-back course and is a chip-timed event supported by the Capital Running Company.

About the Equal Footing Foundation
The Equal Footing Foundation (EFF) is a 501(C)(3) non profit charity that provides underserved youth in Northern Virginia opportunities to achieve their full potential through youth development and educational initiatives.
